Meet Our Team

Anne-Marie Charest, Phd

Camp Director

Known as Mrs. Mermaid in schools, I have taught nature-based mindfulness practices to children, teens, and adults for over 11 years in the US and in Canada. As a therapist, educator and teacher, I developed several nature-based based curriculums called innerU Mindfulness Nature Adventures. These programs were developed with educational, social and emotional, physical, psychological, and ecological considerations. As a doctor in Transpersonal Psychology and a Marriage & Family Therapist specializing in Somatic Psychology, the expression of wellbeing has led me to reintroduce and revive ancient contemplative practices in Western culture. Today, I continue to help those interested in cultivating wellbeing, inner peace and a greater sense of connection with nature.

Assistant Director

As a native to Santa Barbara, I spent my summers surfing, kayaking, and exploring our coast. For the past 4 years, I've guided outdoor adventures here in Santa Barbara and the mountains of Colorado. These experiences range from sea-cave kayaking at Channel Islands National Park to working as a hiking and backpacking guide in Rocky Mountain National Park. My experience in outdoor education led to my passion of connecting children with the power of nature. As an outdoor educator, I believe in teaching children about ecology, conservation, and mindfulness in their own backyard. Whether it be kayaking, tide pooling, or surfing; the ocean offers great adventures and opportunities to grow with nature!

Camp Mascot

As Cavalier King Charles whose nature is to love and please those around her, Leia is the perfect camp mascot. Over the last year she has co-facilitated weekly Nature Walk classes from Santa Barbara City College and has opened the hearts of countless children along the way. Leia brings a smile to children of all ages. Her calm, gentle yet playful demeanor cultivates authenticity and joy.
Leia says ...woof, woof, woof, which means I can't wait to meet you!

WE LOVE HELPING KIDS EXPLORING THEIR INNER OCEAN

"Stand tall and still like a blue Heron. Breathe deep and slowly like a humpback whale. Be heartfull like a dolphin. And one day you will soar gracefully like a Giant Manta Ray”
